Our Story

Founded in 1994 by Guru Deepak Roy, Deepam was established as a creative space for dancers to explore their passion for the arts. As a senior disciple of Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Guru Deepak Roy has committed himself to promoting the lyrical style and precision of Odissi.

Aishwarya Hegde, who was one of the earliest students of Deepam, assumed the role of Artistic Director in 2018. Her exceptional talent and unwavering dedication towards the growth of Deepam have been instrumental in bringing the dance school to its current stature. Today, Deepam is a registered dance school in Oman that offers a learning path for both adults and children. Aishwarya firmly believes that teaching and performing are integral components for becoming a complete dancer. She has taken her Guru's vision forward and has established herself as a prominent figure in the world of Odissi.

Deepam has diversified its outreach to various segments of society with a unified aim of creating awareness and knowledge about Odissi. By conducting lecture demonstrations, introductory workshops for children, and intensive learning programs for senior disciples, Deepam strives to impart the transformative experience of Odissi to as many individuals as possible.
